Ms. Liesinger holds a Juris Doctorate degree and has over fifteen years of legal and insurance experience that includes handling matters relating to life science; cyber liability; product liability; professional liability/E&O claims; complex insurance coverage issues; and litigation in state and federal courts. In addition, Shushanie is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US).
Prior to joining GB Specialty, Shushanie was Senior Claims counsel for Intact Insurance Specialty Solutions, the successor carrier of OneBeacon Insurance Group. In this capacity, she was an integral part of product development efforts in the Technology and Life Sciences division of the company, advising and collaborating with underwriting and business leads on claims, trends, and coverage issues. She was also actively involved with complex coverage issues that arose on general liability, product liability and professional liability claims, ensuring consistency and reasonableness in approach, and handled a variety of complex life sciences liability claims.
Shushanie was also the Cyber Team Lead in her prior role and, in this capacity, she was an integral part of cyber product development efforts company-wide, including in the Technology and Life Sciences divisions. She advised and collaborated with underwriting, risk control, enterprise underwriting, business leads, and upper management on claims, trends, and risks. She was also actively involved with providing training and expertise to international claims teams being created through organic growth and company acquisitions with international reach.
While in private legal practice, Shushanie represented clients from initial consultation to resolution in business litigation disputes, with a focus on products liability defense, E&O/professional liability defense, consumer financial regulations / collections, labor and employment, and real estate and receivership litigation. She managed a large caseload of complex commercial insurance defense and insurance coverage litigation matters, and navigated and advised insurer and insured clients with respect to complex insurance coverage issues.
Her responsibilities involved all aspects of pre-trial litigation, trial preparation, and trial, including: working with expert witnesses; taking depositions; preparing and arguing non-dispositive and dispositive motions; preparing witness and exhibit lists; drafting and responding to motions in limine; and preparing and arguing jury instructions. She tried several complex business disputes to verdict in state and federal courts, and handled complex appellate matters to resolution or decision in state courts, federal appellate courts, and the U.S. Supreme Court, including drafting appellate briefs, motions and other submissions.
